The three castles' track - Quincié en Beaujolais

Features of the loop

Visorando app gave us the following details about this hike :

• distance :  9 kilometers

• duration : 3h30m

•elevation gain : 250m

Our hike was slightly different - we walked 11 kilometres and it took us 2h40m.

don't know we handle things when we hike, but we always walk more distance but in a quicker way (😜).

Landscape and terrain

For the most, this trail took us through vineyards ! When not amongst the vines, the loop was also  interspersed by periods in the forests or alongside the meadows.

Consequently, the trails we followed were ground trails.

Regarding the public roads, we only had to cross three of them ( two  cantonal ones and a regional one), so, our dogs had the possibility to be free all of the time for their pleasure and ours !  🙂

We had visited the area a few days before and we loved the orange colour of the vineyard leaves ! But when when we returned, all the leaves had fallen ! We were a bit disappointed about it, but mother nature waits for nobody !

Nevertheless, it was anyway, very enjoyable. The grounwas undulating, the extent of the vineyards was impressive and the few villages we saw were made of lovely old stones.

As the name of the track mentioned it, we were supposed to see three castles, however we only saw two.

One has been hiding from us !

Impressions

We didn't encounter any hiker during the two and a half hours.

Perhaps the chilly 6° degrees, being in the depths of the "Beaujolais", doesn't seem very attractive for a lot of people to go hiking !

But for us, it is perfect ! No distraction for our dogs and the feeling that the nature belongs to us.

We really enjoyed this track and we will certainly do it again in spring and the next autumn (before the fall this time ) ! 😊

If you want to do undertake the same hike, you can find all the details here ici.
