The lake of Monteynard loop

For a year and a half, I have been dying to do this hike ! i

And, miracle, on this morning of august, all the criteria were reunited to go : good climate, human andogs energy and enough free time ahead !

The Lake of Monteynard is 1h30 drive from home which is approximately our limit road time for a daily hike !

Because if going is easy, you have to consider the way back after a consequent effort.

We had booked in advance the boat crossing of the lake ( I advise you to do the same because at the ticket desk on the "d" day, many hikers couldn't embark because of the smallness of the boats ).

On the boat, we were approximately 15 people, including the "captain" and... his dog !

I won't say that we were packed in, but well, it was really convivial, if you see what I mean (laughs).

It took us 15 minutes to go from on side of the lake to the other. If we talk about prices : it's 6 euros for an adult and free for dogs, which is kind of nice ! :)

Our dogs behaved relatively well during the crossing but were a little stressed by this new kind of transport.

Then, we started the loop. We hikeduring 3 hours and a half and traveled along 12 kilometers (says my Iphone).

The journey is really splendid ! It is worth the trip !

All the track is in the shade, so it is possible to do in at every season. Moreover, the turquoise water of the lake bring a bit of coolness and it is possible to go swimming (if you don't forget your swimsuits, like us.. ).

When the views on the lake are hidden, we see the moutain ranges on the background.

On the way there are to Himalayan footbridges to cross !  The Brac's one and the Ebron's one.

On the website, it seemed fun and no big deal, but well, no that I'm in front of them, I'd rather prefer to swim than to walk on this thing.

Surprisingly, our dogs don't stop and begin to cross in a very self assured way. So, I don't really have the choice.. as I am at the other end of the leash : I follow as quickly as I can !

All along the way, we saw tens and tens of hikers ! The atmosphere was really good, everybody was talking to everybody but, if you are looking for a peaceful place, it's not the right hike to do in august !

Consequently, Blue and Luna weren't free : there were too many people, kids and.. dogs for them to be out of our control.

We finally arrive at the parking, pay the thicket (3,50 euros for the 3h30) and go back home with a camera full of wonderful pictures and really satisfied by our outdoor day !
